We are convinced this saddle will literally survive an atomic bomb–it is that well made! From the incredible Silver Mesa, this saddle rides like a Cadillac and fits a horse darn well. This one was clearly a favorite of its last rider, and clearly ridden a TON. We have gone through this saddle completely, down to the tree, and boy is this thing sound. Its so well built in fact, the skirt are literally laced through the tree. We have replaced the fenders, has a new pair of oak stirrups, all new latigos, new screws and rosettes, and minor repairs to stitching. The off side rigging showed a teeny bit of wear, which we have repaired/reinforced. 16″ tree, padded to 15.5″, this Silver Mesa Trainer offers plenty of padding to the seat, with a deep seat pocket that just holds you in. Suede seat, and paired with the roughed out leather, this one is grippy and secure. On wide fitting QH bars, measuring a generous 6.5″ with a ton of flare and decent rock through the bars. This one will fit a horse well. Surprisingly short skirt -much shorter than most-at just 26.5″ with an equitation skirt and free swinging fenders give this one a very close contact feel. Very adjustable fenders, like crazy adjustable, going youth short but long enough for a leggy rider. Fully roughed out, all D rings are tight, real wool underside. We’ve oiled the heck out of it, so it has darkened a bit but the leather has softened up beautifully. This is not a light saddle, on a reinforced wood tree, weighing in at about 38lbs. Seriously, this saddle is darn near indestructible. Ready for a million more rides and priced so darn well for a Silver Mesa!
