Here is a nice snaffle bit from Myler. This one is a new, old stock item with its tags! Large, sleeved ring snaffle, pinchless, with large O/Loose rings that measures 3 7/8″ in diameter. With the MB02 Comfort Snaffle mouth, in sweet iron with copper inlays. 5″ mouth. The mouth on this one has just a teeny bit of surface rust from humidity, but has never been used. This configuration, despite being very popular, has been discontinued. You don’t see these very often! Per Myler:
The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™. The loose ring is a simple stainless steel “O” shape where both the bridle and mouthpiece have no fixed point of attachment but slide freely around the ring. The loose ring allows a lot of play as the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring. The loose ring is generally considered one of the most non-interfering cheek pieces because the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring. However the play in the mouthpiece can make it difficult for a horse to find your hands as the mouthpiece is in continual motion. The movement of the mouthpiece can also exaggerate or create a busy mouth in young or anxious horses. It is best suited for more advanced horses fully schooled in leg and seat aids as well as rein aids.
