This stunning, vintage bit from Vogt is in brilliant condition. Ready for use or would be a great addition to a collection. From Norm Vogt, an earlier bit, marked VOGT with a star. Incredible silver work on this bit. The 9″ shanks are the perfect marriage of refined and classic, tapering to a thin diameter as you move down the shanks. Straighter shanks, very short purchase, and there is sterling silver darn near everywhere you can put it, including bit stabilizer. Pinchless, with the bridle rings tapering out. What sets this one aside is the mouthpiece. Very unusual, almost a combination of round cathedral and spade, with mouth stabilizers like a spade, with copper rollers over the bars. Copper roller at the top of the roller. Port measures 2 1/2″. Slightly smaller mouth at 4 7/8″. The balance and feel of this bit is spot on. Shanks do have a teeny bit of movement at the mouth, but very limited. Sweet iron mouth showing a bit rust from use. Bit is in excellent condition, silver does show a bit of natural tarnish. You won’t see one like this anytime soon, and definitely not in this condition. This bit is ready to ride or look great as part of a collection.
The Vogt family silver works company is known for decades of stunning, hand engraved silver pieces. Norm Vogt, teamed with expert silversmiths from Mexico, became a household name in many arenas for their stunning silver goods to include bits. Now, very few collections don’t include a Vogt.
